For unto us...
This is the first in a series of three quick devotional posts highlighting this amazing passage from Isaiah 9:6. “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.”
What does it mean that Christ was sent “unto us”? Christ’s birth is the climax of God’s amazing rescue mission. From the time sin entered a perfect world, God had been orchestrating a plan to save us. Without forgiveness, our access to a perfect and holy God is thwarted.
But God wants his precious creation, his treasured children to be with him for eternity. Christ’s entry into the world in the humblest of circumstances, was for us. He came to provide a way for us to spend eternity with a God so holy, he cannot tolerate sinfulness. Christ came for us. Christ came for me. Christ came for you.
